Summary: if you accept the analytics category, this website uses Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to measure how it is used and analyze the browsing experience, including session recordings and heatmaps. If you do not accept it, those tools are not loaded. The website does not use advertising or remarketing cookies.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them. First-party cookies are set by the domain you visit, while third-party cookiesare set by a different domain. This policy also covers equivalent technologies, such as browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage).
2. How we use cookies today
Technologies strictly necessary for website operation and security are always active and are described in the table in section 4. If you accept the analytics category from the banner or from Cookie Preferences, the website also loads Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. If you reject non-essential cookies or do not enable analytics, those tools are not loaded and the website continues to work normally.
We do not currently use advertising, remarketing or ad personalization tools. If we introduce marketing tools in the future, their cookies, scripts or similar technologies will load only after you give the relevant consent, and we will update this policy before enabling them.
3. Cookie categories
Essential or strictly necessary. Always active. They cannot be disabled because they are necessary for the website to function and to protect the form against automated submissions. They are not used for advertising tracking.
Analytics. Optional and disabled by default. If you enable them, we load Google Analytics 4, from Google, to measure in aggregate which pages are visited, how visitors reach the website and which actions they take, such as tapping a phone number or email address, requesting an estimate or submitting the form; and Microsoft Clarity, from Microsoft, to analyze the browsing experience through session recordings, heatmaps, clicks, scrolling and technical errors.
Advertising and marketing. Optional. No advertising or remarketing cookies are currently loaded on this website. If enabled, they would help measure campaign effectiveness or display ads on other platforms. They would activate only with your prior consent.
Preferences and functionality. Optional unless strictly necessary. No tools in this category are currently loaded. Microsoft Clarity session recordings and heatmaps belong to the analytics category.
4. Tools used by this website
The tools listed below depend on the website's current configuration. We update this table whenever a tool is added, changed or removed.
Currently active tools
| Tool | Purpose | Type | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leaflet / OpenStreetMap | Displays the service map when it enters the viewport. Leaflet does not use tracking cookies. Your browser downloads and caches map images according to the provider's headers. | Functional map | OpenStreetMap Foundation |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Checks that the contact form is not being used automatically. It loads only on the contact page and only when live form submissions are enabled. It may store technical information in your browser for the time needed to complete verification. | Essential / security | Cloudflare |
| Cookie Preferences | Saves your cookie category choices so the banner does not appear on every visit. Your choices are stored in your browser (localStorage), are not sent to a server and are not used to identify you. | Essential | First party (this website) |
| Google Analytics 4 | Measures visits, navigation between pages, traffic sources and actions such as tapping a phone number or email address, requesting an estimate or submitting the form. It uses first-party cookies such as _ga and another one beginning with _ga_. It loads only if you accept analytics. | Analytics (optional) | Google · How Google uses website data |
| Microsoft Clarity | Analyzes the browsing experience through session recordings, heatmaps, clicks, scrolling and technical errors. Contact form content is hidden in recordings. It uses first-party cookies such as _clck and _clsk and may use Microsoft third-party cookies. It loads only if you accept analytics. | Analytics (optional) | Microsoft · Clarity cookies |
| Server operation | Technical connection data needed to deliver pages, apply form submission limits and protect the website against abuse. | Essential | First party (website hosting) |
Tools we may use in the future
As of the date shown above, none of these third-party tools is loaded on this website. If we enable any of them, they will work only after you give the relevant consent. Each provider has its own privacy and cookie policies:
| Tool | Purpose | Type | Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | Conversion and ad performance measurement | Advertising | policies.google.com |
| Meta Pixel (Facebook / Instagram) | Conversion measurement and remarketing | Advertising | facebook.com/privacy |
5. Consent banner
On your first visit, we show a banner that lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies with one click and with the same ease, or manage your preferences by category (analytics, marketing and preferences). Optional categories are disabled by default until you enable them.
You can change your decision at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (localStorage), is not sent to a server and is not used to identify you.
Accepting the analytics category enables Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. Accepting the marketing or preferences categories does not enable any tools today, because none are installed in those categories.
If you later disable analytics or reject non-essential cookies, the website stops sending data to Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, notifies Clarity that consent was withdrawn, deletes the website's first-party analytics cookies and reloads the page without those tools. If you have the website open in several tabs, your decision applies in all of them. Withdrawal does not affect data collected before that moment, which is retained according to each tool's settings and its provider's policies. When the tools that depend on your consent change, we ask for your decision again.
6. How to manage cookies in your browser
You can view, block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser's privacy settings. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and other browsers offer this option, usually under privacy and security. You can also use private browsing mode.
Google also offers a browser opt-out add-on that prevents Google Analytics from collecting data on the websites you visit.
Blocking essential technologies may prevent the form's security verification from working and stop you from submitting a request. In that case, you can call us at 408-726-9451 or email us at goldstargaragerepair@gmail.com.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the website's tools or applicable regulations change, and revise the date above. Any new tool involving non-essential cookies will be documented here before it is enabled.
