1. Scope of this notice
Gold Star Garage Repair ("Gold Star", "we") provides garage door repair, installation and maintenance in the Bay Area to Sacramento, California. This notice explains what personal information we collect through this website and its published contact channels, how we use it, who we share it with and your choices. It does not cover information provided outside the website under a signed service agreement, which is governed by that agreement.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide. The estimate form asks for your name, email, phone number, city or ZIP code, the service you need, a project description and confirmation that you authorize us to contact you. If you call or email us, we receive the information you choose to include.
Limited technical information. When you visit the website, the server and hosting provider process technical connection data, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and requested pages. We use this data to operate and protect the website and prevent abuse, such as limiting form submissions from a single connection. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Usage and device data, only with your consent. If you accept the analytics category, Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity collect information about how you use the website: pages visited, referring page or link, visit duration, clicks, scrolling, cursor movements and taps, technical errors and actions such as tapping a phone number or email address, requesting an estimate or submitting the form. They also collect browser and device data, such as device type, operating system, language, screen size and an approximate location those providers may derive from your IP address. Clarity uses these interactions to create session recordings and heatmaps.
We configure the integration so that your name, email, phone number, address and the text you type are not sent to those providers: events contain only values defined by the website, such as the link type, page or selected service, and the contact form is hidden in Clarity recordings. We do not enable Google Signals or ad personalization from the website.
Information we do not request. This website does not ask for payment card numbers, bank account details, Social Security numbers, driver's license information or health information. Do not include such information in the form or your messages.
Children. This website is intended for adults seeking service for their property. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
3. How we use your information
- Respond to your inquiry and prepare an estimate.
- Coordinate, confirm or reschedule a service visit.
- Follow up on the work, materials or parts needed.
- Keep a record of your request and your authorization to contact you.
- Operate, maintain and protect the website against misuse.
- With your consent, measure website usage and contacts received, and analyze the browsing experience to improve the website's content and performance.
- Meet legal, tax or warranty obligations where applicable.
Submitting a request does not subscribe you to marketing communications. We do not sell your information or use it for third-party advertising.
4. Contact by phone, text message (SMS) and email
By submitting the form and checking the authorization box, you agree that Gold Star Garage Repair may contact you by phone, text message (SMS) or email about your request. Your carrier's message and data rates may apply, and message frequency may vary. Your authorization is not a condition of purchasing any service.
You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. You may unsubscribe from informational or promotional emails using the unsubscribe link, replying "unsubscribe" or emailing us at goldstargaragerepair@gmail.com. You may also ask us to stop calling you.
5. Cookies and tracking technologies
Technologies strictly necessary for the website to function and for form security verification are always active. Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity load only if you accept the analytics category, and you can withdraw that consent at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer. This website does not load advertising or remarketing tools. Details about each tool, its cookies and tools we may enable in the future are in our cookie policy.
6. Do Not Track signals
Some browsers send a Do Not Track (DNT) signal or similar privacy preferences. The industry has not standardized responses to these signals, so this website does not respond automatically. You can control non-essential analytics through the cookie banner or the Cookie Preferences link in the footer: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity do not load unless you enable that category. We do not sell personal information or use these tools for advertising purposes. If we enable advertising tools in the future, they will load only after you consent, and we will update this notice and the cookie policy.
7. How we share information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with providers needed to operate the website and respond to your request and, if you accept analytics, with analytics providers, always to the extent required for that purpose:
- Resend (email delivery provider): delivers form requests to the business inbox when live submissions are enabled.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: checks that the form is not being used automatically.
- Hosting and infrastructure provider: operates the server that hosts the website.
- OpenStreetMap: provides the service map when you view it. Your browser requests map images directly from the provider, which receives technical connection data such as your IP address and referring website. We do not send your precise location or form contents to the map.
- Google (Google Analytics 4): only if you accept analytics, receives the usage and device data described in section 2 to produce website statistics.
- Microsoft (Microsoft Clarity): only if you accept analytics, receives the interaction data described in section 2 to produce session recordings, heatmaps and usage statistics.
We may also disclose information when required by law, in response to a valid request from an authority, to protect our rights or people's safety, or as part of a business transfer. Google and Microsoft may aggregate, pseudonymize or otherwise process analytics data under their own privacy practices and the configuration we set for those tools. If we enable advertising tools in the future, we will update this notice before doing so.
8. California privacy rights
Where applicable, California residents may have certain rights under state law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Even where these laws do not formally apply to a business of our size, we will make reasonable efforts to address privacy requests we can verify. These rights may include:
- The right to know which categories of personal information we have collected about you and for what purpose.
- The right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to information we must retain for legal, tax or warranty purposes.
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. If we enable advertising or remarketing tools in the future, their use will be subject to your cookie preferences and an updated version of this notice, together with an appropriate opt-out mechanism.
To submit a request, email us at goldstargaragerepair@gmail.com or call us at 408-726-9451. We may need to verify your identity before addressing your request, and we will aim to respond within a reasonable time.
9. Information retention
Requests sent by email are handled in the business inbox. In general, we retain request correspondence while it remains useful for providing service and follow-up, and for up to three years after the last interaction, unless a legal, tax, accounting or warranty obligation requires longer retention. You may request earlier deletion, subject to these same exceptions.
Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity and those providers' policies. Withdrawing your consent prevents further collection but does not automatically delete data sent before.
10. Security
We apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), anti-abuse form verification, submission limits and restricted access to the business inbox. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Links to third-party websites
This website may link to external services, such as maps or review platforms. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We recommend reviewing their notices before sharing information with them.
12. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice to reflect changes to the website, our providers or applicable regulations. When we do, we will update the date above. If a change is significant, we will aim to highlight it on the website.
